HEAD COACH: Steve Turner (240-832-9846) … EMAIL: steve.turner@montverde.org
The nation’s most decorated program during the past decade-and-a-half turned the page when six-time WCAC Coach of the Year Steve Turner arrived last season, but the results were the same – a massive conquest of Prolific Prep to win the City of Palms Signature Series, a first-place regular season finish in the EYBL Scholastic League’s East Division and a runner-up finish in the season-ending Chipotle Nationals. Long established as a “team builder,” Turner has carefully assembled a new group around decorated returning guards 6-3 SR Oneal Delancy (13.9 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.4 apg) and 5-9 SR Javion Tyndale (6.9 ppg, 4.1 apg), headlined by Canada’s top-ranked recruit, 6-7 JR Isaiah “Hollywood” Hamilton (21.2 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 3 steals at Toronto Crestwood ON), 6-6 JR Xavier Skipworth (Potomac Bullis MD) and promising 6-10 JR Joel Patrick (5.5 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.9 blocks at St. Joseph-Metuchen NJ). … Delancy, a Houston pledge, is a two-time winner of the COP’s “Hometown Hero” award, given to the player who writes the best essay in the souvenir program. … Turner guided Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.) to a 525-182 record and eight national Fab 50 rankings over 21 seasons; his Eagles are a record 41-6 in their 14 previous appearances with six Traditional titles and one Signature crown, including a 20-game winning streak that was ended by Miami Columbus 59-57 in the 2024 final.
